Only Mostly Dead
Today sucked.  I worked from 11:00 AM - 10:30 PM washing dishes and only had one twenty-minute break.  I worked for 11.5 hours!  I don't think I've ever worked that long before.  My feet hurt and so does my back from leaning over the sinks.  Plus, my hands are all leathery and gross.

The reason I worked so long was because they had both a brunch buffet and a dinner buffet for Mother's Day, so it was incredibly busy and there were a ton of dishes.  On Friday, I only worked six hours and on Saturday, I worked eight hours.  The good thing is that the restaurant is only open on the weekends, so I don't have to work until Friday.  Thank God.  I feel like I need that long to recover! haha

YES!
I just got an email from my professor saying that if I turned in the self-evaluation that she didn't get from me, it might raise my grade.  So, I sent it in, and now she says I have an A in the class.  YES!!  That makes me feel much better.

Real Life
Ugh!  Don't you hate when you're having a good day and something comes along and messes it up?

I went shopping today and got my hair cut, bought two cute dresses, make-up, went out to eat, and just had a nice and relaxing day.  Then, we got a call from my uncle at the hospital that my grandpap was up and talking.  Yesterday everyone was positive that he wouldn't recover and we were going to have to make a decision about the feeding tube, so no one could believe the recovery.  They think he probably had a mini-stroke, but they aren't sure.  Hopefully, we should find out more tomorrow.  All I know is that it was awesome news.  Plus, my cousin was there and he said that he needed someone to wash dishes at his restaurant, so I volunteered, and now I have a job for the next month until I go back down to school.  I thought it would be impossible to find some place to hire me for only a month, but you gotta love family.

But now, I just got an email from my Computers in Education professor saying that I got an A- in the class.  I'm really disappointed now.  I know it's still not a bad grade, but I thought for sure that I was going to get an A and I really wanted to raise my GPA above 3.6.  UGH!  I went to every class and did all the assignments.  No one else went to every class!  I should email her back and ask why I didn't get an A I guess, but I really hate messing with it.  Plus, it feels kind of petty to argue about an A-.  It just sucks when you expect something better.

Done with Finals
I finished my finals!  Hooray!!  I think they went okay considering I never actually read The Sound and the Fury and wrote an essay on it anyway, haha.

In other news, I watched The Christmas Invasion on BBC America and the cuts they made were terrible.  They took out Rose crying that Ten wasn't the proper Doctor, the whole rude and not ginger exchange, the Song for Ten scene with the crackers and the hats, and the very end with the Doctor and Rose discussing where to go next.  Why do they feel the need to cut the best parts of the episodes??

Touching Sports Story
Blah, I still have two more finals to take before Monday. Yuck. But I saw this story and thought it was touching. I haven't been paying attention to sports so I just saw it today:

San Antonio
I got into San Antonio for Fiesta yesterday afternoon!  We were just in time for the day parade.  It was incredibly hot and humid.  And my camera broke, so I couldn't take any pictures.  I took a ton last year so I guess it's not that big of a deal, but it still sucks.  We went to dinner at this really nice place on the riverfront and what made it even better was that HACER covered the bill.   I ate way too much all through the day, though, haha.  We went to see Baby Mama after that.  I was really disappointed in it, though.  It was okay, but I guess I was really expecting more because I like Tina Fey.  Ah, well, everybody else really liked it, so it might have been just me.

Tonight is the big night parade which we have reserved seats for, so at least we won't have to stand up.  I hope it doesn't rain like it did last year, though.  I think everybody is just going to study until then, but I don't really want to because it's like we're on vacation. I'm such a slacker.

Ruining Funny for Me
NO!!  Okay, that Open Source Boob Project craziness that I'm sure you've heard about was mainly started by this guy [info]theferrett, and I find the whole thing rather creepy and sexist.  Now, I'm super disappointed to find out that he wrote the online comic Home on the Strange, which I really liked but now is forever tainted for me.  Damn it.

And this was so funny, too:

My Dad is Ridiculous
I love my dad, but he is so ridiculous sometimes. My mom called to tell me that he got called in about jury duty today. He comes home from it all excited, telling her,  "Everybody loved me! I kept making them laugh. The prosecution, the defense, and even the defendant all loved me and wanted me back!"  My mom just told him that he was a moron and to have fun on jury duty then.  Hee!  I know that he wants everyone to like him, but that's taking it a little far.

Fandom Women Appreciation
Hey all! If you ever get tired of the criticism toward female characters or actresses in fandom, you should definitely check this fandom women appreciation post out. It's utterly ridiculous the amount of hatred that female characters seem to inspire, especially in comparison to male characters. It's nice to have a place that's positive where you can talk about your favorite characters, post picspam links, or celebrate them in whatever way you want.

Fandom Women Appreciation

I already expressed my undying love for Rose, Buffy, and Veronica and also the other female characters that I love. :)

My Mom Can't Count / Clinton Victory
I was up all night working on my autodrama, so as soon as I was finished with classes I took a nap.  My mom calls me half an hour ago and wakes me up, flipping out about how Clinton is losing in Pennsylvania and what could have happened?!  So, I'm like, "What?  How?  Huh?  What time is it?"  And my mom just starts babbling about how Obama has 15 million and something votes and Clinton has 13 million and kept asking how many people were even in Pennsylvania?!

I had to get up and turn on the television because I was getting so confused.  Then, I had to explain to my mom that none of the Pennsylvania votes had actually been counted yet and she was looking at the nation-wide popular vote so far.  My mother is insane.

Sweet!!!  Since then, they've started getting votes in, and they're already calling Pennsylvania for Clinton!!!!  That was quick!  YES!!  I'm worried about how much she is going to win by, though.  I don't know what precincts are mostly in, but Pittsburgh and blue-collar places seemed to go Clinton, and Philadelphia for Obama.  I guess we'll see!  Regardless, I'm happy that Pennsylvania actually counts this year.  It's pretty exciting.

In other news, my sister and her friends went and put a Clinton sign in her boyfriend's yard, haha.  He and his family are McCain supporters which makes me doubt her taste in guys. ; )

The History of Love
If you haven't read The History of Love by Nicole Krauss, you really need to. I finally got around to reading it, and I thought it was amazing. The characters were compelling, and the writing was just beautiful. I loved it.

Here is one of the quotes from it that I saw on [info]literaryquotes which pretty much convinced me that I had to read the book.

IMDB is saying that they're making a movie out of it, too. That worries me.

Naps are Amazing
I swear, only when I'm taking a nap do people call me.  It's ridiculous.  I was taking a nap today, and I got six calls and two texts.  Three of the calls were my sister for some reason.  I don't know why - I didn't answer, haha.

I had a really strange dream, too.  My powderpuff team was having a trivia contest.  I actually had a similar dream before, but I don't remember what the topic of the contest was.  This time the topic was Doctor Who, and I was all confident and telling my team how we were going to kill.  So, we started playing until eventually everyone started getting tired of it.  People kept leaving until there were only three of us on each side.  We were tied, and some question came up, and it was, "Who decided that the Doctor should land in 1913 in Human Nature?" or something like that.  The choices were:

A. the Doctor
B. the TARDIS
C. I can't remember
D. I can't remember

I was saying how we'd have to think about it when the one girl ran up and slammed the button for B. And it was like, WRONG and the other team started cheering and we got really mad at the girl because she lost it for us.  So we asked what the answer really was then.  Suddenly, the Doctor shows up and says that he decided to land in 1913 because a Spice Girls song told him to do it.  That's when I woke up.  I have no idea where that dream came from, haha.

For Reasons Of.... Multiculturalism!
My Intro to Acting class was pretty funny today.  The professor gave each of us a 100-word monologue to look over and practice for about ten minutes.  Then we had to get in front of the class and have the person next to us come up and we had to tell the story in the monologue to them.  Mine was pretty boring, but the guy who told me his was the best.

We didn't know what anyone else's monologues were about.  So, I was sitting there, and he started pacing around, babbling about some building, not even looking at me like he was supposed to be doing.  I was really confused because I didn't know what the heck he was talking about.  Then he sat next to me and started taking off his shoes and socks, still talking about this building.  So, I was sitting there wondering what in the world he was doing.  Then, he turned to me, said "I've never done anything like this before,"  and threw off his shirt.

I started laughing, along with the rest of the class.  It was just so funny because no one had any idea what was going on and I'm sure I looked ridiculously surprised at the end.  I wish I had the presence of mind to then start kicking off my flip flops or something, but I was laughing too hard.

Then, in my Curriculum Development class, the teacher said, "Today we're going to talk about multiculturalism" and so of course, I had to quote the Legally Blonde musical and say, "We should admit her for reasons of.... multiculturalism!  Yes, multiculturalism!"  And everyone looked at me like I was a moron.  I told them it was the Legally Blonde musical, but none of them had seen it.  They are sadly lacking in pop culture knowledge.
